Low Level Laser Therapy
Low Level Laser Therapy (LLLT) or Photobiomodulation therapy (PBMT) is the application of red and near infra-red light for therapeutic purposes.
- It improves wound and soft tissue healing, reduces inflammation and provides relief for both acute and chronic pain.
- It is used to increase the speed, quality and tensile strength of tissue repair
- It can be used as a substitute to acupuncture where invasive treatments are not tolerated or are contraindicated.
Laser or high intensity LEDs produce red and near infrared light (600nm-1000nm) commonly used in LLLT. The intensity of LLLT lasers and LED’s is not high like a surgical laser so there is no heating effect.
